Feedback from Kate's last workshop in April 19

‘I was looking to learn from an artist to whose work I could directly relate and I had spent a while searching online. I took advantage of a last minute cancellation opportunity on an acrylics course with Kate. Acrylics had never been my first choice of medium, in-fact I hadn’t used them until two weeks before the course. I didn’t master acrylics in two days, but I learnt a lot about how to improve my landscape painting. I was exposed to so many new techniques, which I have been practicing and enjoying at home. The venue makes a great studio for course participants. I’m just disappointed that I am unable to attend the next course.

Wild Expressive Winter Landscapes and Seascapes in Watercolour

Level-suitable for all ….except complete beginner

This workshop is geared for all those who have completed a taster session in watercolours with either myself or another tutor.

The power of suggestion and mood making are our key goals in this workshop.

Taking landscape and seascapes as our inspiration we will initially explore techniques for loosening up using expressive mark marking and numerous techniques using special effects. Creating samples will enable us to have confidence to explore different media application in our paintings.

We will discuss brush and surface use / creating textures  /wet in wet technique/lifting technique/ colour and aerial perspective/mediums and their uses

The pace of this workshop is gentle to enable the beginner and cautious painter plenty of time to ask questions,to experiment and to ask for demonstrations. Students with greater capability will not be discouraged from proceeding at their own pace and will be pushed !
