Flora and Fauna -water based media and mono printing

This 2 day workshop is designed for painters with some basic knowledge of painting and are interested in freeing up and being more experimental.

This course is all about texture, colour, being bold, being experimental and most of all taking risks.

We will be using the natural world.. birds, bees ,animals, flowers and foliage as our inspiration and with buckets of techniques to explore; unorthodox approaches to discuss and try out Kate will encourage you to push your creativity to a higher level.

Conventional subjects such as colour, composition/design, viewpoints and tone also hold the key to this investigative 2 day session

*£185 for 2 day courses which includes 2 lunches & refreshments*

Sat 15th &16th September      *NEW WORKSHOP*

Moving towards Impressionism-any media

A two day inspiring course geared towards painters with some experience in their chosen media.

Initially through a series of exercises and demonstrations Kate will stimulate and challenge you to move your personal work away from a representative style and towards a looser and more impressionistic and painterly approach.

We will also look at contemporary and historic artists for inspiration and will also explore semi abstract painting and expressionism to inspire you to move out of your comfort zone.

Working to your own theme for the majority of the course you will be encouraged to push yourself through experimentation so please come with an open mind.

You will be expected to have prepared a small scrapbook of ideas/images/photographs in preparation for this course.

Ideal for anyone who is bored with their work and need a push to expand their horizons.

*£175 for 2 day courses which includes 2 lunches & refreshments*

Fri 26th& 27th October      *NEW WORKSHOP*

Experimental Acrylic painting

Taking Landscapes and Seascapes as our theme this 2 day course is geared for improvers who are enthusiastic to learn more than conventional technique

This workshop isn’t for the faint hearted, we will be pushing Acrylic painting to its full potential and taking risks to push its boundaries. Instead of expecting to finish the course with a painting or 2 think more of leaving with a wealth of ideas and confidence to try new things. Indeed the rules are there to be broken!

Key exploratory areas

  • Experimental surfaces & grounds
  • Gels & glazes
  • Additives-commercial & experimental
  • Mixing  media
