“I was looking to learn from an artist to whose work I could directly relate and I had spent a while searching online. I took advantage of a last minute cancellation opportunity on an acrylics course with Kate. Acrylics had never been my first choice of medium, in-fact I hadn’t used them until two weeks before the course. I didn’t master acrylics in two days, but I learnt a lot about how to improve my landscape painting. I was exposed to so many new techniques, which I have been practicing and enjoying at home. The venue makes a great studio for course participants. I’m just disappointed that I am unable to attend the next course.”

“Just wanted to say a big thank you for yesterdays Art Day in your lovely studio.

Carolyn and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with you. We found the session very interesting and informative.
Thank you for your constructive comments about our work. We are both looking forward to practising some of the techniques you taught us through your wonderful demonstrations.

I do hope we can keep in touch Kate and we will certainly book in for another workshop day soon…..so delighted that Chris found you!”

“Back home, back to reality! I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your brilliant workshop, I enjoyed it immensely.  You have given me so many new techniques that it will encourage me to make time to work on some new ideas – my head is buzzing with them!

It was great meeting so many lovely people and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunchtime discussions, my thanks to your husband for providing delicious fare.

Keith was encouraging regarding the work I had produced with you over the weekend so I won’t feel quite as bad when I can’t get round to doing the accounts! Thank you for all your hard work.”

“Thanks for another wonderful course.  I have learnt such a lot and I do enjoy your style of painting.  I am no longer afraid of the paint!  It was a nice group of friendly cheerful people, all enjoying themselves.  The lunches were excellent.  To my surprise I have found my attempts at oil painting have been more successful since attending your watercolour courses.  Maybe to do with learning to plan, and understanding more about how colours work.  Busy with watercolour skies this week.”

“Following the course on 19/20th, I’ve been painting a LOT! I was so inspired by what you taught me, and despite my own self criticism I can see some improvement. I’ve attached a few shots – well, you did say you’d like to see our work!

I know I need to be a bit bolder with my use of paint – too frugal! I’m working on that! Hope I can come on another course in the future, and perhaps we’ll see you in March.”

“Just to say how much I enjoyed the course last week, especially painting outdoors.  This afternoon I have been trying an A2 sized kitchen painting of the Lyth valley from the sketches.  Still struggling with the tones and trying to avoid sharp edges but feel I have made great progress on the course.  I am booked on your 3/4 Sept course so that should help to reinforce the techniques.”

“Just returned from Kate’s latest workshop which has been most inspirational leaving me wanting to paint with so many more different techniques and ideas. Can’t wait for the next one!”

‘Kate’s weekend workshops are always very informative and effective, her informal communication ensures attendees can implement her lessons easily. I would highly recommend her workshops to any painter who wants to improve and expand their techniques.”

“Another excellent painting weekend.  Exciting demonstrations of new techniques and very helpful individual advice.”

“My sister, Jacqui, and I came to your studio last Thursday and took part in your beginners acrylics day. I just wanted to say a huge thank you for such a wonderful experience. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and Jacqui really felt she had had a fabulous 50th birthday gift and a day to remember.

Thank you for being so patient and understanding and going back to basics for us – you make it look so easy. We are both very proud of our creations and mine is still sitting on the sideboard – I have never painted a proper picture before so I feel a great sense of achievement. Jacqui’s made it back and has equally impressed her family!

We would love to make a habit of this so we hope to see you again in the future.”

“Many thanks once more for 2 very enjoyable & highly productive days. The venue was very good (lots of light/full of character/ready access to kitchen etc). Also there was plenty of room which allowed everyone to focus on yourself / the demos… I feel my painting technique developed greatly over the 2 days. I can see why so many artists paint flowers as these allow such expressiveness… very early days yet but I feel I may have the beginnings of a “style” of painting which is exciting.

Your introductory talk was great for illustrating key fundamentals in tackling the subject matter. The “Poppies” demonstrations inspired the students to be much more bold in tackling larger subjects & gave confidence in the handling of washes. The Iris demo was a delight to behold and one which you also seemed to enjoy!”

“We just wanted to say thank you for the workshop which we both enjoyed very much. We felt we had learnt a lot  by the end.

My reason for wanting to come was to kick-start me into a bit more painting and the course certainly did that. The paintings I came back with look a lot better in the cold light of day.

“A short note to thank you very much for the watercolour workshop which you led the other week. Everyone I have spoken to has said how much they enjoyed it, despite many of them being taken way out of their comfort zone, so, once again, many thanks, and best wishes for the future.”

“Just a quick e-mail to thank for the workshop and the obvious effort you put in to make it a memorable and rewarding experience. I certainly learnt an awful lot, and I am hoping to be able to build on that learning as time goes by!”

“Your work shop was fantastic I truly enjoyed being in such a friendly ,welcoming creative environment. It was fun and I hope that Santa may treat me to another of your workshops next year. Thank you for the information and for sharing your talent with us.”

“Re- private tutorial: I really enjoyed the day and felt that I made progress; at least I hope I did. Also it inspired me to advance with acrylics, it feels far more dynamic. Thank you for your time and effort; it was a great birthday gift from Liz.”

“Thank you for a great two days with you in your beautiful Brigsteer.Learned so much and  really enjoyed painting outside. Had a good journey home admiring the cloud formations as we travelled down the motorway… even discussing the colours. Hoping to produce a masterpiece soon!”
